What’s the fuss about airsoft guns? The mother asks, “Why is Anthony nagging me to get him an airsoft gun. Aren’t they dangerous? I heard that you could put an eye out with those little bb pellets! Why would any mother want their son to have one?”

When your father comes home from work, we’ll ask him. You father has had some paintball experience and he’ll know what is best for a growing boy like you, son. It might teach you how to control your gun. I know that gun safety is a good to know. Most hunting accidents are caused by inexperienced hunters and untrained people.

Is there a better choice as to the type of air-soft gun you start with? It all depends on your preferences. Price is usually a deciding factor. The automatic rifle runs for $40 to $100, and the spring operated pistol is as low as $3 to $25. There are also pump-type rifles ranginess from $15 to $35.

A young adult, teenager or some 10 year olds are perfectly capable of using the air-soft guns safely when started off under adult supervision. There has never been an accidental shooting by a properly trained person. Accidents don’t happen they are caused by ignorance and lack of knowledge.

A family who plays together stays together. Mothers and father spend too much time working, making money, etc., may be missing the joy of teaching their children about the importance of family outings, doing things together and supporting each other in their hobbies. It may be a stretch to try airgun outdoor sporting events for the whole family, but the rewards are great.

One problem is the amount of airsoft BB’s getting lost. You can buy the 2000 ammo jars with the self-loading tops. Some people prefer the square jugs that hold 4000 little BB’s, or even buy the 10,000-count bb’s in a bag.

What about safety of the face and eyes? How do you protect the eyes from those airsoft guns that shoot over 300 feet per second? I saw a full face mask that looked good to protect my son face. Even the ears needs protection from being shot from the .20 BB’s being shot from a gun that shoots 330 fps.

Teaching gun safety is important when there are children in the household. Showing them how to handle an airsoft gun, and helping them to learn sound gun safety practices will translate over to real guns as well. Can airsoft guns teach children safety? We believe airsoft guns are the wiser choice in teaching safe gun practices.
